Child safety standards

We, the undersigned, hereby declare our unwavering commitment to the protection of children from all forms of sexual abuse and exploitation.

Child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) are grave violations of human rights and the dignity of children. These acts cause profound harm—physically, psychologically, emotionally, and socially—and their impact can last a lifetime. Every child has the right to grow up in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment, free from abuse, exploitation, and fear.

We recognize that CSAE can occur in physical spaces, digital environments, and through the misuse of technology. It affects children of all ages, genders, abilities, and backgrounds, often perpetrated by those in positions of trust or authority.

We affirm that:

Every child has the inherent right to protection from all forms of sexual abuse, exploitation, and harmful practices, as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).

Prevention, awareness, education, and early intervention are critical tools in eradicating CSAE.

Survivors must be supported, heard without judgment, and provided with access to justice, medical care, and long-term psychological support.

Perpetrators must be held accountable under the rule of law, with appropriate legal consequences and safeguards to prevent reoffending.

Institutions, governments, civil society, and communities share the responsibility to protect children, report abuse, and uphold child protection policies at all levels.

We commit to:

Promoting safe environments—both offline and online—for all children.

Implementing and enforcing robust child protection policies in our respective organizations and communities.

Providing training, resources, and capacity-building for staff, caregivers, and community members.

Collaborating with law enforcement, health services, educators, and child protection agencies.

Listening to and empowering children and survivors to participate in decisions affecting their safety and well-being.

This declaration is a call to action. Silence is complicity. We must speak, act, and lead with integrity, compassion, and determination to end child sexual abuse and exploitation—once and for all.

Together, we can and must protect our children.
